Free Home Business with Affiliate Programs

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

Most traditional businesses can cost thousands of dollars to start. If you are looking for a home based business that is inexpensive and/or free to start then try using a Web based business. There are several free tools available to help you create a high content design with a specific focus that can be a great marketing asset. If you do not want to have to invest in a product then affiliate selling may be the best option for you. Once you have your web site complete and have high volumes of traffic using your key words and SEO (search engine optimization), then you are ready to find a merchant that will affiliate with you. The affiliate promotes a merchant’s site with a link on his or her own web page. The merchant’s products and services are promoted through the link. When a customer clicks on a link and makes a purchase the merchant gives the affiliate a commission. Because that customer found the link from the affiliate, the affiliate is being paid essentially as a type of advertising agent.

The merchant and the affiliate will agree prior to the link being posted what the actual commission will be for a particular sale. Usually the merchant has already set the commission amount, and often the commission is a substantial percentage. The affiliate needs to make sure that the product and services he or she is promoting are related to the website of the affiliate. This is because you want to have a targeted audience to be able to promote these products and services effectively. An affiliate who tries to sell a child’s doll on a spyware website will probably not be successful. If an affiliate has several types of businesses to promote they need to have their own sites independent of each other. This will keep things organized and will attract only the visitors who will generate sales. Make sure that all the pages you have are themed and easy to find on the popular search engines. You want to make sure that you are attracting potential buyers who are specifically looking for what your merchant or merchants offer.

Once you have figured out if the product a program offers is relevant to what your site contains, choose a merchant web site with high ranks on keyword searches. The higher the ranking on a specific search engine the higher the traffic that will be generated. This will also mean that the product is popular, which is what you are looking for. You have found a merchant site with which you can build a profitable affiliate relationship. Now it is time to contact the affiliate manager. This person will work with you to establish an account with said company. It is their job to be helpful and effective as well as respond back to you quickly. The affiliate manager should also be willing to go that extra step to make sure you have long-term success.

The best method of promoting your site to someone else is to speak to your customers and visitors, as they are your friends. They will feel comfortable and in turn will promote and advocate your sites and business to others. An effective way to generate cash flow is to sell the products of other merchants within an affiliate program. The more products of other people you sell the more in turn you will make. The first successful website is always the most difficult. Once you have figured it out, the next success in your home based business will be quicker and easier. © 2006 Wallet Relief.com

Home Based Business, Part-Time

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

There are many great reasons to start a part-time home business. Maybe you are ready to venture out into the world of self-employment, but are worried about diving in too fast. Maybe the market into which you are venturing is small or takes a while to actually generate an income. Perhaps the best part about a part time home business is that you can still work a regular job. This will give you the financial backing you need to get the business up and running as well as for bills and other things. The financial stability will keep you from feeling too much anxiety about money issues. There are many good businesses that can generate a great source of income once up and fully running.

At first it may be hard to get to your home based business during your off time. Once you spend the time organizing it and getting it off the ground it will take on a life of its own. There are going to be days when you are too tired to even think about the business. Soon enough it will creep into your life and make you some money. Once a profit starts rolling in regularly you can then decide whether you want to go full time with your endeavor. Some become able to either drop down to part time or even quit their other work. Eventually you have the pure freedom of being your own boss. There are several pros and cons to becoming a part time business owner. Besides the fact that you still will have income coming in from your other line of work, you will also still be covered for health insurance. This will allow you to build your business slowly and do it right.

The cons are that doing a business only part time has some time constraints. There is less time for marketing, optimizing, and building a clientele. Many times you will not be available to answer your customers’ questions or take their orders. This could cause frustration in your clients and they may feel they are not getting good customer service. It is very important to be able to respond quickly to your clients. Also there can be the issue that you are not taken seriously because you are only part time. You will want to work out something to make sure that your clients know that you mean business and will not slack on anything that you offer. The hardest part of having your own part time business on top of a full time job is burning out. You need to be sure to take care of yourself. If you work yourself to the bone, your personal life, family life, spiritual life, and health can suffer. Work on the business over a period of time to be certain you are not spreading yourself too thin. A part time home based business can work, and has worked for many. As long as you have great time management skills and self-discipline, your own home business is a realistic goal. © 2006 Wallet Relief.com

Planning for Home Business Success

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Success in business usually occurs by attending to more than just the bottom line. You want to know your purpose for being a business owner, other than money. Financial gain as a goal is a given. You should also want to create awareness about something that is important to you and that you enjoy. Give something of your knowledge back to the public and get them to love it as much as you do. This will create the sales you need to keep going. The more money you make, the more time and resources you will have to put back into it. Always give the customers more than they ask for. You want them to return and buy again. The best way to ensure sales is to give the customer what they want.

Be a part of the community of people with whom you want to do business. Join some of the groups they in which they participate. Speak to your friends, give some advice and help out. Do this authentically and you will naturally gain their trust. Eventually the people that are buying from you can become not just buyers but trusted friends. Word of mouth is the most powerful tool you have and is the hardest to get. Let others in your community know that you are real and a person.

Other questions to ask yourself are as follows:

* What percent of your overall marketing will be done online or through other means?
* How much time do you expect to spend and dedicate to marketing?
* What strategies are you willing to use to succeed?
* Will you invest in your own business and yourself?
* Will you have contests to get consumers?
* Are you willing to invest in e-books, books, or reports in your related field?
* Will you subscribe to newsletters that give you the latest in your business field?
* Will you make your own newsletters for free to sends to your consumers that will keep them informed?
* Are you willing to invest in advertising?

If you are willing to do what it takes to be successful then set up a plan. Assign a date to get all the things you need in order, or a reasonable timetable of dates by which you will finish certain tasks. Your persistence can definitely pay off in success, both online and offline. © 2006 Wallet Relief Blog – WalletRelief.com

Evaluating Home Business Opportunities

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

If you are getting ready to start a home business, first look into fields that interest you. You must enjoy what you are about to do because you will be spending a lot of time in this field. Just because you love something does not mean it will sell though. Make sure that what you select has a market. You want paying customers to come to your site and buy what you have to offer. So where can you go to find out some great business opportunities? Well, you can go into your browser and type in different subjects and see what other people are doing with them. You can also look on marketing sites for the hottest trends in business. Remember that these sites are also businesses and will offer you products as well as information. Make sure you know all the tools that are available to you before purchasing the first book or start up kit you see.

Most people want to see money and not to spend it, but you will have to do some investing if you really want to succeed. You do not have to spend thousands, however. Books can be a great tool and a very inexpensive way of learning how to run your own business. Not only will these books give you step-by-step instructions on how to start your business, they will give you ideas of what types of businesses you can have. You can get books cheap on Amazon. You can even use your local library but it would be better to have the books constantly at your disposal. You might even want to consider such markets like eBay. You can sell products there very easily and everyone can readily find you. There are many people making an nice living off of selling on eBay. Here are some quick tips for being a good eBay seller.

* Sell a product you know. You will not be able to answer questions if you have very limited knowledge about what you are trying to sell. This will also get you a bad name and no more bids. The more familiar you are with what you are selling and its potential uses, the better off you are. You are the one trying to get people to buy, so know your stuff.
* Use eBay as your purchasing guide for what you plan on selling. Look up what people are charging for similar items. Do not pay more than 65% of what the eBay sales history tells you. You want to buy in bulk and wholesale and know what you are being charged per item to see if any money will be made off of it.
* Ship your paid orders on the same day they buy. Buyers want fast shipping that does not take three weeks to get there. Companies like Fed Ex offer online shipping and will give you an immediate 10% discount. They will also increase your discount the more volume you get.
There are also many little tricks to selling on eBay. For example, listing your product for Auction on a Thursday for 10 days will close out all bidders on a Sunday. Sundays are great days because people are home. © 2006 Wallet Relief

Your Home Biz and the IRS

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Here are some thoughts to consider for filing for tax year 2006.

If you have not yet organized your office well enough, now is a great time to start. Keep all of your records and documents in order to be able to file easier at the end of the year. Home business owners have their own set of allowable deductions that differ from other businesses. You have a chance to save much money by knowing how to take advantage of your home business situation.

Know your deductions. There are several deductibles to which the home-based business owner is entitled. Automobile or vehicle deductions can help with mileage, gas, insurance, or other related expenses. You can write off your business cards and stationary, plus any business meals and entertainment. All business traveling expenses, education, and even the interest on your business credit card can be counted in your favor. If you use a computer strictly for your business, the Internet service costs and expenses related to your web sites could be deducted as well. The cost for office furniture, supplies, your phone and other communication devices related to your home business can be deducted. Any postage or cost for delivery of goods is also considered a business expense. The home-based business owner can also get deductions for rent and utilities that keep the business running. Deductions that you will want to take on your 1040 form are:

* Half of your self-employment tax amount, which gives you a huge savings.
* As much as 100% of your medical insurance costs for you and your family.

If you make more than $600 per year in self-employment income you must file your taxes for this. You may qualify for the C-EZ form if you have had a bad year or just got started. Your total business expenses will have to be less than $5000 for that year; you have no inventory, or have to file a 4562 form (depreciation and amortization form). Make sure first and foremost that your expenses are less than $5000 and that you have taken all the deductions to which you are entitled.

Deciding who will be doing your taxes is no small matter. You need to decide if you plan to do them yourself or if you want someone else to do them for you. Using a tax professional has several advantages. Tax professionals can save you much time and unnecessary frustration. They can spot deductions you might miss or of which you might not be aware. Hiring a tax professional also saves you from being responsible for any errors that were made in the preparation, which could end up saving you thousands. No matter how you decide to prepare your taxes be sure to claim all possible deductions to save you in the long run. Businesses have been given tax breaks for a reason and you should make sure you know which you qualify for and how to save by using them legitimately and legally.

Lastly, remember this post is only a reminder of possibilities for readers. For detailed and official information, please visit the IRS website or speak with your tax professional. Have a prosperous year that’s legally in order! © 2006 Wallet Relief Blog – WalletRelief.com

Online Revenue from Google AdSense

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Today an online business has many useful tools in the fight to stay competitive on the web. One of these powerful tools is the popular Google search engine. Google clearly has what it takes to make your web business a success. The 90 million visitors each and every month that use Google testify to this fact. Google.com is probably the largest search engine on the web today, and they have tools employed to ensure this and they have tools to ensure that you can succeed as well.

The exact, detailed account of how Google operates seems to be a proprietary secret, but search engine experts have a general idea of how it works. Google takes the first few lines of text and incorporates that into the search result when someone punches in your keyword. This should give you an idea of how you develop page rank and popularity. There are traffic monitors available to you when you use the Google service, and these can inform you as to when and how you need to adjust your keyword usage to find more traffic. When dealing with Google, it is most important for you to write the first paragraph of your page so that it has the biggest impact. This material is what is going to be seen on the search result by viewers, and thus you need to ensure that what they see here will be–impact!–which will prompt them to investigate your site. The more views you have to your site, the higher the traffic volume, and the more volume, the higher the page ranking and popularity.

A good rule of thumb is have at least 8% of the words in the text be keywords, with about 300 words being used as the impact paragraph. If this is what is going to be seen first, you have to make it count. Many of the search engines deploy software programs on the web that gather information from any site they find. These are known as spiders, and they constantly view sites and record content for their indexing purposes. You never know, however, when they will by surfing your site. It is not always the case that they will index your entire site on one trip to it, so you need to ensure that you optimize your pages. They will always start from the top of the page; this is why it is best to have the most impact near the top of the site. The best way to ensure that spiders crawl over your entire site is to place your site on Google Sitemaps. Instant updating on site indexing is one of the great perks that comes with Google Sitemaps.

The files saved are XML files; this is like having your very own direct link to Google–like a data cable. Basically Google AdSense involves third party advertisements sitting on the pages of your web site. Every time someone clicks on the ad on your webpage (and they leave your webpage) you get paid for the AdSense transfer. Obviously this will require a rather large traffic volume to make significant money, so do not neglect the above basics of optimizing for Google. Do not try to trick Google with anything like “keyword stuffing.” The people at Google are very smart and they can penalize your site for this sort of behavior. Just keep these basic rules in mind, and create a site that is friendly for human users like you and me, and you will be on your way.

NOTE for our readers: In case you have not seen it yet, Microsoft has recently released their Beta 2 version of their AntiSpyware software that is FREE to valid Windows operators. It has been renamed Windows Defender, and is available for free, instant download at the Windows Defender page. We have been using it since its release with no trouble, and it found one spyware file that our other spyware programs had not picked up. It is hard to imagine a downside to this Microsoft software, so at least post a reminder for yourself to check it out soon if you cannot decide now. © 2006 www.Wallet Relief.com

Organizing a Home Business

Saturday, June 10th, 2006

What is the best way to organize a home-based business? Some home biz owners have set up a totally separate room in the home that keeps business away from the rest of the family life but that is not as popular as it once was. Many families integrate their home business with their family life and do quite well with this type of arrangement.

One of the first things to consider is how you like to operate. You want your business area to be set up in a style that is comfortable for you. If you enjoy looking out the window while you are working and you are very productive this way, setting up your business space in a way that makes you look at a wall will not encourage you to work. In fact, you will more than likely find reasons why you cannot work. Do you like plants and artwork? Set this up in your space. It is important to make your business space reflect your personal style. This will make you want to sit at your desk and work because you are comfortable there as opposed to dreading going to your work area.

Make your workstation the base of the work that needs to be accomplished but do not limit yourself exclusively to that spot. You should also be able to leave and sit in your favorite chair or other places in the house to accomplish your work. However, do not spread important documents all over your house. Dedicate an area to where those items will be kept. You do not want to feel like your business is taking over your life and that everywhere you look you see bits and pieces of it scattered throughout your home.

If you have a family with small children at home it will be important to child-proof your office space and make it look unattractive for children so that they will not want to visit too often, borrow office supplies, and color pretty pictures on your financial papers.

Consider purchasing a laptop and cell phone, if you have not already, so that you are not always tied to your desk. Sometimes it is nice to go to a park and sit in the fresh air while you are getting work done.

Decide exactly how many hours you are going to work during a day or how many hours need to be dedicated to a particular project. It is very easy when you are working from home simply to work all day and into the night because your office is so accessible. You need to be able to set boundaries as to when you will and will not work. Take breaks, step away from your work, and go to lunch even if it is in another part of your house or in your backyard. © 2006 Wallet Relief

Optimize Your Online Business Profit Margin

Friday, June 9th, 2006

What can you improve when you have been running an online home business site for a couple of years but your profits are not as strong as you would like? One option is to review whether you are getting enough traffic to your site. If you are satisfied with this aspect of your business, you might want to consider increasing your sales through the method of follow-up promotions. The beauty of this idea is that it does not necessarily bring more hits to your site but it does bring back more people to your site who will buy more of your products, thus generating more income. If you have customers, at least 30 percent of them will purchase from you again and this number will continue to grow if you use the follow-up techniques that will are presented in this article.

Take a good look at your customer base and realize that they are many times more likely to purchase from you than someone else if you follow-up with them. If they already like the product they purchased from you, there is a good chance if you offer them another product or a discount on what they already purchased, they will come back to your site and buy again, and then they will spread the news of your site to their friends. When customers like a product, they tell others. The more you follow-up and offer them items from your site, the faster your profits will begin to increase.

One of the techniques used in the follow-up technique is to reward your customers for using your site and buying your products. In addition, you can reward them for referrals to others. Special notices that in essence say thank you for the purchase, or offering a small discount if they come back or refer your business to a friend are all great ways to increase your profit margin. Another technique is as follows. When a customer signs up at your site, be sure to send confirmation messages that their request was received; however, instead of simply saying, “we have received your request,” add a little something extra in there. This is a great opportunity and great timing to offer them something extra from your website or a discount off their next purchase. Be creative and you will be amazed at the responses you will receive.

The importance of this approach is to let your customers know that you are following-up with them to make sure they are happy with their purchase and that if they have any questions or concerns they can contact you. Do not overwhelm them with sales pitches. Relate to them in such a way that they can feel you really care about their satisfaction with your product.

Software for Tracking Web Site Data

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Software programs are available that track some basic but non-personal information about visitors to your site. The more traffic you generate the more money you will make. Thus, you want to make sure that you have all you need to see if you are getting the traffic you want. There are several ways to track the traffic on your site and each has its own pros and cons. It will depend on what you need at the time and how much you are willing to invest. Some devices simply tell you how many people visit you and some have actual reports with fine details. You would want to use a more sophisticated tracking system if you want to know which search engines are bringing in the most traffic or where people are coming from. The simpler methods are used just to know how many people total have visited your site since it got up and running. These will not offer any other type of information such as how many per day or where they came from.

1. Counters: These are usually used by newbies. You will not see them on more professional sites. They will tell you and the visitor exactly how many people have visited your site.

2. Trackers: Tracking software will give you a detailed path your visitors take when they visit your site. This tells you way more than just a simple tracker and is not seen by the visitor. For free use of such software you might be required to put up a button or graphic. Many site owners will prefer to put their own tracking scripts onto their servers.

3. Use Your ISP Statistical Package: Your ISP provider keeps a log of every hit to your site. This will let you know where your traffic is coming from and at what pages they are looking. Make sure your hosting company offers access to your raw log files.

4. Web Traffic Analysis Software: this is a program that will take your raw log files and generate a report on your traffic. The quality will completely depend on what program you are using. There are some free ones that come with some hosting packages or there are the paid software packages that will generate high quality reports.

Your web traffic statistics are an extremely valuable tool for information about your web site. You will be able to make decisions on improving your site through the information they give you. They will let you know what web pages are the most popular and also the ones that are very rarely used. A tracker will tell you who is visiting your site. You will learn which web browsers to optimize your pages for and which search engines are most useful. They can even tell when you get errors or have bad links on your page. Analyzing your web traffic can help you determine what type of marketing strategies work for you and your site the best. You will then be able to change according to the most successful methods and boost your traffic and ultimately your sales. © 2006 Wallet Relief Blog / www.WalletRelief.com

Payment Options for your Online Business

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

Every good businessperson knows that one of the best ways to boost traffic and sales of their product is to allow for multiple payment options. By offering many different methods of payment, you are enabling everyone to purchase the same goods. There are many fashions of payment these days that can accommodate just about everyone.

Anyone who limits the acceptable payment methods to a mere few can easily be losing business and in turn losing money. As word of mouth on the net is a very fast river, that mentality of limited payment options can easily mar your success online. The bottom line is that you must allow for convenient ways for your customers to pay for the product, or you will loose out on business. The method of paying by credit card is by far the most popular payment method going right now, with over 90% of all sales coming this way. It is clearly and by far the most used method of payment, and a company would be ill-advised to eliminate that mode of payment from their options. It is not a difficult chore to set up your site to accept credit card payments; actually it is much easier than you think. There is a new contender in the payment option ring today–this payment method is the Pay Pal account.

This handy account has a completely revamped system that has eliminated all the quirks and bugs of its previous version, and is now very simple to use. This great tool is very safe for the transfer of funds to you, so there is minimal worry by the client. It also has a very good tracking system in place to protect you as well as the clients themselves. Again this is not the only contender in the ring, as the debit card seems to be gaining momentum. It is said that this will be the vehicle of fund transfer for the future; clearly it is here to stay. It would not be advisable for any business owner to exclude these payment methods from their list of options. Toll free numbers and order forms still find their way into this list of payment options, as they have been reliable in the past. This is what is known as an offline transaction.

When it comes down to it, the idea of business is not to merely get by but to succeed. If you limit yourself you are they opening the door for the competition to succeed and in turn shut you down. After all, a sale is still and always will be a sale. © 2006 WalletRelief.com
